I personally prefer to use management studio as that's a tool that you most often will have access to. You cant rely to have visual studio or control panels in every situation so I think it's better to learn and get used to the tool that you most often will use in different situations. And that's SSMS.
This is my personal opinion and there's probably other reasons for doing other ways.
